Frequently Asked Questions
Do you have a question for us? Chances are you're not the only one that's had that question!
1. How does the custom furniture process work?
We start with a conversation about your space, style, and needs. From there, we provide design options, finalize materials and finishes, and get to work building your piece by hand! Check out our online store in the "Shop" menu to look at our in house designs!
2. How long does it take to build my furniture?
Lead times vary slightly depending on the time of year and our current schedule, but most projects take 10-12 weeks from ordering to delivery. Please reach out to us to ask our current lead time.
3. Can I customize the size, wood type, or finish?
Absolutely. Every piece is made to order, and we’ll walk you through options for dimensions, wood species, stain colors, hardware, and more.
4. Do you offer delivery or shipping?
Yes. We offer white glove delivery far and wide, OR clients are welcome to pick up here at the shop in Wingate, NC. Delivery fees are $250 within 30 miles for regular orders, and $300 for extra large orders. For orders outside of 30 miles, the fee increases at $3/mile.
5. Can I visit your workshop or showroom?
Please do!! Nothing like chatting in person and putting your hands on some of our work! We’re happy to schedule visits by appointment. This allows us to give you dedicated time and walk you through materials and current builds.
6. Can you match a design I saw on Pinterest?
Yes! We love working from inspiration photos. Send us the design you have in mind, and we’ll let you know what’s possible. We can recreate the style or customize it to better fit your space, materials, and budget.
7. Can you give me a bigger discount?
Can you give us a tip? ;)
8. Do you require full payment to order?
Yes we do! We operate just like all furniture stores. Full payment secures your spot on our schedule, allows us to source your materials immediately, and ensures we can get to work without delay!
We know custom furniture is a big investment — that’s why we keep you updated every step of the way. You’ll get progress updates, photos from the workshop, samples, and clear communication from start to finish. You're not just ordering a product — you're part of the process. Feel free to swing by the shop anytime to check out the progress!
9. What type of finish do you use?
We use an industrial grade lacquer topcoat! Lacquer has been an industry standard finish for fine furniture for decades. It keeps the hardwood protected, feels amazing, and has the perfect sheen(not matte and not gloss. A luxurious, classy low glow). Feel free to custom request an oil finish for added cost as well.
10. Do you offer commercial or office furniture?
Yes — we design and build custom furniture for commercial, office, and hospitality spaces. Whether you need a one-of-a-kind conference table, reception desk, or retail displays, we can bring your vision to life.
We work closely with business owners, designers, and architects on larger scale projects.
If you have a brand style guide or design reference, we’re happy to match materials, finishes, and details to keep your space cohesive.
11. How do I care for my new furniture?
Caring for your custom piece is simple and ensures it stays beautiful for years to come.
Here are our top care tips:.
- Wipe up spills immediately to avoid water rings or stains — our finish is amazingly resistant to this but no finish will withstand water or excess heat for an extended time.
- Use a damp cloth and mild soap for occasional cleaning, followed by a dry cloth. DO NOT USE harsh chemicals, polishes, or silicone-based cleaners. DO NOT USE GLASS CLEANER.
- Protect from excess heat by using coasters, placemats, and trivets under hot dishes. Direct sunlight can fade wood tones over time, so consider rotating decor or using curtains/blinds to minimize exposure.
- Keep your home at a stable, low humidity. Wood responds to changes in temperature and moisture. JCF is not responsible for damage to your furniture due to unusual humidity levels in your home.
